Portable Generator Comparison

Are all generators created equal? Not even close. Here is a generator that came in the other day. The distributor called us to see if we would work on it for the customer, well first of all no warranty center for that brand. They called it 12000e to give the impression it could pull 12000 watts. The generator was rated at 8000 watt and 9500 surge. We repaired it and the distributor wrote us a check.  So we load tested this unit and it pulled 7000 watts Ok at 7500 it started falling on its face, 8500 the engine could not pull the load. below is some comparison images of two generators rated the same.
